A huge thanks to everyone for coming out this summer to our short track series. Aside from a couple of weather issues, it's been a lot of fun to put on. We've had a lot of help from some very dedicated volunteers, and with their help, and your attendance, we've been able to raise a pretty decent amount of money for the CU Cycling Team.
The short track fundraiser goes a long way to help our team develop and travel to races throughout the year. Indeed, the new mountain bike season is off to a great start, and hopefully we'll be able to improve upon last year's 2nd place at Nationals. Track Nationals is right around the corner too.
So thanks again to everyone that helped out, sponsored, and even just attended our races, making it another great summer of short track. We'll see you again in May 2013!

Costume Race!
Thanks to everyone who still came out last week. It's been a rough short track season, with a heat wave and some poorly timed rain. Hopefully Wednesday will bring the perfect atmosphere for the last short track race of the summer. Make it a race to remember with some wild costumes, we'll be giving out prizes to the best one.
Until Wednesday, check out some photos from Jeff Stephenson. The total standings are posted as well here. As for tabulating the overall standings...with the number of races that have been cancelled due to weather, we're only dropping two races instead of 3. It looks like most people have missed at least one that they can forget about. One more will emphasize consistency with results. With that, we still have several of close races on our hands.
See you in costume on Wednesday!

Skratch Labs tomorrow!
We've had some really close races the past two weeks. Check out the results for July 11 and 18, as well as the latest standings with the links over on the right.
While you're at it, relive the action of the 11th through photos:

Some big news for tomorrow (as you may have guessed from the title of this post), Allen Lim is donating a significant amount of his Skratch Labs super secret drink mix! I'm pretty partial to the Lemons and Limes.
See you tomorrow!

June 27 Cancelled
Hey everyone. So the dry weather made for fast dirt last week, but as I'm sure you know it unfortunately left Colorado susceptible to fires. Because of one so close by, we're cancelling short track this week. Nobody needs to be racing hard and gasping for air when there's only smoke around. We wish everyone close to the fires as much luck as possible.
Stay Safe, and we'll see you in 2 weeks.

Dry weather makes for fast dirt
It was another good week of racing at the research park. Jeffery Stephenson got some great pictures of everything too. You can check them out here. I'm a big fan of this one, Garrett Gerchar getting some air.
Also, take a look at the results - from all the past weeks and the totals. The links are in the usual sidebar spot to the right.
We do our best, but please let us know of any potential discrepancies.

On a side note, now that my computer is almost running to normal again, do you prefer PDF or last year's web-based format? (To remind you, last year's total results are still here on line. I'm personally partial to the web-based, it tends to load faster. Are there any particular differences for you bikers who are checking last week's results on your phone at the race?
See you on Wednesday!

Biggest Shorttrack Ever!
This Wednesday we will be gearing up for the biggest Short Track race of the year! GEBHARDT VOLKSWAGEN of Boulder has teamed up with the CU Cycling team to offer $500 CASH for the A races!
Racing will kick off at the same time as normal, stick around to watch the pro's battle it out! In the mean time, check out the standings: currently in pdf form here. (My computer completely crashed recently and still need to rebuild it, the individual race results should be processed and linked here faster.)

Don't jinx the weather
Our excitement to start the series tomorrow hasn't waned since last week. A few details about the series...First and foremost, follow us on Twitter at @CU_Cycling_Team. We try to announce weather cancellations and results here, there and on Facebook, but Twitter and Facebook are usually first. (I'll get a side-bar going for it soon).
Second - Points for the series.
We'll be doing both daily and overall results - with details about prizes to come. For the overall, we have 12 11 races in the series, and determining the overall by the top 8 races. This gives you a chance to take that vacation over the summer and not worry about falling behind to Brady Kappius too much. (BTW Happy Birthday Brady!)
As this is a fundraiser for CU Cycling (2nd at Mountain and Road Nationals!), we want to encourage you to show up as much as possible. So the individual points break down might be a little unique. In standard form it ranges from 100 points for 1st place to 20 points for 15th. But for those finishing outside the top 15 get 15 points. Those who don't finish (but race their hearts out) get 10 points. Those who did not start but registered and thus still donate to CU Cycling get 5 points. Not racing or donating yields 0 points, naturally. Also, you'll get penalized for attacking refs, cutting the course, and doping. So don't do any of those things.
