Weather Update For Week 3

It looks like there are a couple afternoon thunderstorms rolling in over the mountains today that could threaten races if they blow up enough.

It's only 2pm and we have three hours until the kid's race rolls out, so for now just be advised that there is the possibility of delays or even cancellations. Stay tuned to Twitter and Facebook, and of course your weather apps.

We can deal with a little rain, but the biggest thing to watch out for is lightning. If there is a lightning strike within 6 miles of our location we must suspend activities until 30 minutes after the last strike.

Our CU representative uses WeatherBug to track the lightning.

Week 3 Course Map

Here's the week 3 course map!

Now that most of you have your numbers for the season, registration should go faster this week. At this point, you should only have a number in the thousands with a red banner. Don't forget these! You will be charged $10 if your number has to be replaced.

Attendance has been stellar the past couple weeks, so keep it up! With this in mind, though, please try to show up as early as possible for registration. With the crowds we've been getting, even if things go perfectly the lines will likely be a little long at times.

Don't forget, we have prizes each week for the winner of every race! These come courtesy of generous donations from Skratch Labs, Yellowbelly, Panache, and Green Guru.

Short Track Week 2 Results

Find results Here.

Last night offered some incredible racing, and some large fields too. Thanks to everybody who came out! Also thanks to everybody for bearing with us as we sorted out registration; we will work on streamlining the process for next week.

On that note, you should now have a numberplate with a red banner and a number higher than 1000. This is your number for the rest of the season! Do not throw it out, do not lose it! Replacement is $10. Also do not bring your old numberplate (all white, number less than 1000). If you race multiple races and stack your numbers together, make sure that one is not in the stack.

There were several issues with race 1 results. Those have now been corrected.

If you still have questions/comments/concerns, please email cucyclingshorttrack@gmail.com. Comments on the blog are great, but difficult to respond to directly.

Short Track Week 2 Course Map

This will be tomorrow's course map.

Remember, we will have new numberplates this week. These numbers, with a red banner on top, will be used for the remainder of the season. Please DO NOT race with the old, all-white, numbers.

We have prizes for the winner of each race, so if you win your race please be sure to stop by the tent at the finish line!

Short Track Week 1 Results

Results are up, HERE
This link will also appear in the sidebar.

Thanks everybody who showed up to kick off CU Short Track 2017! The weather was great and the event ran smoothly and on-time.

As you might expect from the first week of the race series there were a couple hiccups, most important of which is that it appears some numbers never got names attached to them. If you raced, please check the results--if you're not there, let us know! We need your name, contest, and bib number to correct the issue.

Next week: we are getting a new batch of numberplates for this season. When you show up at registration we will be assigning the new ones, which will have a RED banner at the top. This is the numberplate you will keep for the rest of the season.

Short Track Week 1 Course Map

The day has arrived! Short Track #1 is here! Below you will find the course map. You see it right, we are not going down Corkscrew but rather the new trail next to it.

As always, registration is cash-only and on-site. Race entry is conveniently an even $20. Show up early--this is the first race and there are waivers to fill out. Look on the right side of the page for all the event details: race times, groups, etc...

This is an independent event, meaning there's nobody but yourself there to tell you what category to race. Please choose appropriately. If you're a strong 4, for example, you should probably race the B race. If it's your first time ever racing on dirt, however, maybe get a feel for things in the C race, then move up a category as you get more comfortable.

It sounds like it's going to be a busy evening at Valmont, so please be mindful of other park users.

See you there!

Short Track Summer 2017

I'm sure everybody is excited to hear that CU Short Track will be kicking off the 2017 season in just a few short weeks!

The first race will kick off at 5pm on Wednesday, May 24 at Valmont Bike Park and proceed every week until August 9 barring any weather events that force us to cancel.

Parking, registration, and the start/finish will once again be located on the southeast corner of the bike park next to the dog park. Electronic timing continues this year with our partnership with RaceRite.
